Why finding a game is harder than it should be
Most golfers know the problem. You have a free Saturday morning and nobody to play with, or you have booked a tee time for a fourball and one person drops out the night before. Group chats go quiet, club noticeboards are out of date, and turning up as a single often means being paired with whoever happens to be on the tee sheet.
It is harder still if you do not belong to a club, if you have just moved to a new area, or if you travel for work and want a round while you are away. Golfmate exists to make that first step easy: see who is playing, where and when, and get in touch.
How Golfmate works
Browse open matches near you and filter by handicap range, format and how far you are willing to travel. Each match shows the course, the time, the format and how many places are still free.
When you find a round you like, send a request to join. If you already have a booked tee time and need to fill the gaps, post your own match and invite your connections, or let other players on Golfmate ask to come along.
After the round, submit your scorecard hole by hole. Your handicap, your recent form and your round history build up on your profile, and your scores feed a leaderboard so you can see how you compare with other golfers.
Who Golfmate is for
Golfmate suits anyone who plays and would rather not play alone. That includes golfers without a home club who play pay-and-play courses, members who want to meet players outside their own club, golfers who are new to an area, and groups of three who need a fourth.
It works for competitive players who care about their handicap and for casual golfers who simply want good company on the course. You choose the format, whether that is strokeplay, matchplay or Stableford, and you choose who you are happy to play with.

Creating a Golfmate account is free. You can browse matches, build your profile and start connecting with other golfers straight away. Golfmate is starting out in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, so the most active matches are in and around those counties, and it is growing as more golfers join.
